landmarks in Britain. In 1716, the poet and dramatist John Gay published his Trivia: or The Art of Walking the Streets of London. His advice warned of cheats,
pickpockets and wig-snatchers and how the walker should resist the harlot's lure.
Nowadays I'm pleased to report that walking in London is a far more civilised
